Rules for Relief Fund-  Effective January 2006 rev. 1/09*

· All active building trades journeymen, apprentices and specialty workers who are able to accept employment are eligible.

· The members must be unemployed during the entire period they are requesting assistance from the relief fund, and have their name recorded on the unemployment list for one month or more.

· If a member is referred for work in the member's home area, the member must accept the job.  Refusal to accept employment in a member's home area will make the member ineligible for relief fund.

· If a member is referred to work and accepts the job, but is not hired due to failing a drug test, the member will be ineligible for relief fund.

· The deadline for requesting assistance from the relief fund will be the last working day of the month.

· It is the member's responsibility to contact the business office every month they need assistance from the relief fund.

· Requests can be made by phone or by mail.  All requests will be kept confidential.

· Once a member is determined to be eligible, the member's monthly dues will be paid by the relief fund and a dues receipt will be sent to the member.  No checks will be issued to the member.

· It there is a question regarding a member's eligibility for the relief fund, the business manager will make the determination for eligibility.

· Member must be current on dues.  The member must be paid through the month in which he/she is applying to be eligible for relief fund (e.g. members requesting January 2006 relief fund dues must have dues paid through January 2006).

· New members or members who transfer into Local 100 must have three (3) months good standing in Local 100 before becoming eligible for relief fund (e.g. new or transferred in member paying dues for month of January 2006 would be eligible for relief fund beginning with the month of April 2006, allowing that all other requirements for relief fund are met).  The definition of "new member" for purposes of this relief fund rule is members who are brought into Local 100 through organizing, members who reinitiate, and members who reinstate their membership after being on a withdrawal card.  Note that the definition of the term "new member" for purposes of this relief fund rule does not include apprentices who graduate to journeyman status, nor dues it include members who reinstate their membership within 2 month's of suspension at the local level.

*Motion made and carried at 1/23/09 general meeting deletes the following  relief fund rule:  “Member may only collect relief fund six (6) times during a one-year period (January-December).  This rule is retroactive to January 1, 2003.”

The motion extends relief fund from six (6) times during a one-year period to twelve (12) times during a one year period (January-December).
